The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete

Left alone in the impoverished Brooklyn projects when their dug-addicted mothers are taken away b the police, a 14 year-old African American boy unwillingly becomes the care-giver of an 8 year-old Korean American boy. Dodging the police and gang members, they must survive the hot summer by their wits and pluck.

Short Term 12

Grace, a compassionate caregiver at a facility for troubled youth bonds with a newcomer who has suffered from an abusive father, just as she had. As a wounded healer Grace also needs help so she can move on and open herself up to the man she loves.

Terraferma

A Sicilian family, at odds over how to cope with the changing times, must decide whether to help a group of African illegal immigrants whom the grandfather has rescued at sea.
