As I write this, November is almost here, which means it’s time to start thinking about Thanksgiving. Here are my two suggestions, with links to reviews of the films from VP’s archives:
What’s Cooking? Is a delightful feast of a film set in Los Angeles where four families–African American (with two yuppie guests), Vietnamese, Latino, and Jewish—are preparing very different meals and face some serious problems.
Woody Allen’s is a funny Christ figure film about a Manhattan talent agent who watches over his lowly clients, inviting them each year to share a Thanksgiving meal (TV dinners–turkey, of course!) that has a sacramental touch.
Either will liven up a Thanksgiving celebration.
