Anthony Moses: "You have to climb this mountain ..."

Anthony Moses is a personal-fitness trainer and owner of A.M. Total Being Fitness. He says Ramadan is more than a month of physical training. The real challenge is spiritual.

During Ramadan, I don’t listen to music, I don’t watch TV. I go completely into the religion in terms of praying, staying peaceful, giving to charity. The biggest challenge is staying peaceful, and not letting your emotions get in the way.
I’ve done a couple competitions while fasting. I think it’s a matter of mind, body, and spirit.
If you’re fasting, you’re fasting for spiritual reasons, number one. When you do break fast, your body stores food for you to do what you need to do the next day. I look at fasting like I look at life. It’s a journey, and we’re here temporarily. And we’re going to all be gone eventually.
It’s almost like you’re in the wilderness and you have no food and water, and you have to go 24 hours without food and water. And you have to climb this mountain to get to a certain spot, because God wants you to get there.
When you get there, you replenish yourself with food and water.
   It’s all about your will.
The more will power you have, the closer we are to God because it’s a spiritual journey.
