Who was Ian Fleming?
Practically everyone knows about the famous James Bond movie series. “Bond, James Bond.” Around the world, these three words summon visions of adventure that strain credulity. Bond movies have grossed billions over the past 40 years. However, less know that these movies are based on a series of novels written by a British man named Ian Fleming. In fact, only two of the James Bond films were released during Ian Fleming’s lifetime. Fleming wrote a dozen novels and two collections of short stories about James Bond. Like many books appropriated into film, stark differences are apparent. Within Fleming’s books are surprisingly different themes than the global image of James Bond today.
